The room we just cleared of skeletons had two exits in the back. The one on the right was a dead end, but the one on the left led to a stone door which Winston was the first to check out. He got close to the door and suddenly was overwhelmed with darkness and despair. He quickly backed away from the door and warned us of the evil that must be on the other side.
From a distance, Melisandra was able to conjure a hand that pushed the door open for us. Winston gathered up the courage to approach the door again and peaked inside. He saw a big chair on the other end of the room with a slouching skeletal figure of a man sitting in it which we later realize is a lich. It spoke, “Why have you come? Why have you come to my resting place?”
Winston replied back with a lie saying, “We’re from the Divine Order”. Unfortunately, or fortunately for us, the figure called his bluff and Winston gave the real reason we were there which was to look for the Divine Order. We were told it was too late, that they were already gone which confirms they were here at one time. He pointed us in the direction of Guyarde, the city whose prince we killed. He gave us the alternative to join him for eternity but we decided against that offer.
On the way out, Draven found a crumpled piece of paper on the floor which turned out to be written by the lich. The letter, in it’s entirety can be found here. This gave Draven some clues to his search for the Blacksword blade he has been searching for.
We didn’t waste any time leaving the tomb. I was hoping we would stop to check out the sarcophagus, at least one of them. But no, it seemed everyone was too chicken shit to open it. We’ll never know what magical item might have been laying inside.
We repelled down the cliff and found our horses were still there, waiting for us to return. We had no problems crossing back across the river and decided to stop at our previous camping spot for the night.
